#037 27th July 2014- Bound by time, A D Trosper
I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal).
This book was a bit hit and miss with me. I liked some parts but I found other parts annoying.
The main character is a channel called Isobel, she has been brought up without parental guidance to teach her what to do with her power. She shares a room with another channel when she's at college. I found Isobel really quite annoying as a main character, she didn't ever seem to know what she was doing. I also thought that her relationship with Damien was quite odd as there was no explanation of the soul mate thing- it seemed like nothing more than two teenagers finding love for the first time. Isobel also had a kind of hero complex, putting herself in danger to save others but when she has no idea what is happening and why it made me scream at the silly silly girl.
The secondary characters include Damien her dark Angel soul mate, Lucien her friend from many many lives ago and Amelia her channel room mate from college. The only issue I had with these characters were the nature of their paranormal abilities, I felt like there was no real explanation into 'dark angels' and what I did learn I thought was forced.
The pacing of the story was also an issue I felt as I didn't think there was a middle. I felt it went from the beginning of the story where Isobel returns home for summer and meets Damien to the end where the is a big fight/ destruction of her house with nothing else to the story other than the introduction of a few new characters.
The storyline was slow and uneventful with very little happening along the way. I felt the romance between Isobel and Damien could have been better with just a little more description and more build up.
Very sorry, not my cup of tea 1.5 stars.
