#019 5th June 2014- TOUCHED BY MAGIC (THE ACADEMY SERIES #1) MAXINE MANSFIELD
**I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)**
In this first book we are introduced to a new and brilliant fantasy world which is extremely saucy. I mean so saucy that there is a class which is pretty much anything and everything sexual.
The main characters Briar and Uthiel are from two very different places in this fantasy kingdom. Briar is an innocent twenty one year old who wants to become a healer, in every sense of the word and since the class healing the soul is the sexual class she finds the activities difficult to grasp. Until she meets Uthiel a real life prince charming who can’t resist a damsel in distress this includes helping her with her ‘big’ problem. The relationship is very strong and no matter how many times the clumsy Briar messes up Uthiel can’t help but forgive her. He helps her in all aspects while she tries to come up with a solution to his problem. The two grow stronger and soon become a couple that can find each other in the worst of situations. I really liked the relationship between Briar and Uthiel and I also thought it was kind of nice that they stayed together throughout the whole book unlike other stories when someone gets in the way of a perfect couple.
The secondary characters were very likeable especially the gnome (Leeky) whose story actually had me welling up. Also I liked the dragons and the relationship between mother and child in the end- I can never think of dragons as the bad guys to me they’re always misunderstood.
The story’s pacing was great giving us plenty of time to get to know the couple and their surroundings well before spinning the world upside down and giving the couple completely new challenges to face.
The story line was awesome and I especially liked the brand new fantasy world that I had the opportunity to got to know while reading. I liked the character development that stayed strong throughout the whole book and that it gave our main characters the happy ending they so very much deserved.
I solid 3 stars, and I’d best get reading the next one…

#020 8th June 2014- TEMPTED BY THE STORM (THE ACADEMY #2) MAXINE MANSFIELD
**I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)**
Another book to sink your teeth into, I literally couldn't put it down, a very very good read and I would strongly recommend it to my friends. I think I even liked it more than the first one.
The main characters lark and sarco are quite a surprising couple that are thrown together in a rather unusual way. Lark is a princess rejected by her mother and father who seeks comfort from a strange man one night while out. She is a strong and independent girl who can't help but be attracted to the one man she probably shouldn't be. Lark is an easy character to understand despite her uniqueness, she is derived entirely by her heart in most matters and only thinks about the consequences when they put her at risk of being disliked. Sacro is a character who has been picked up from the first book, a year has past and there is an extension of the original prophecy in place. Sacro has now had a marriage arranged for him in order to fulfil this prophecy and he is very willing to do so until he meets lark. He is swept head over heals by this girl who has very little confidence in her appearance but is very confident in her skills. This couple end up defying all odds and coming together in the most magnificent way.
The secondary characters I still love leeky and now he has a love interest of his own which I adore. Also the headmistress and her new sub Sherman along with return characters from the previous book and the family's.
The pacing was as good as in the previous book. Offering the same kind of layout including plenty of time to get to know the characters before moving one of them to a different environment.
The story line was brilliant allowing plenty of giggles as well as blush worthy moments, fantastic twists and turns as well as an epic showstopper of an ending.
3.5 stars and on to book 3.

#021 8th June 2014- TAKEN BY THE PASSION (THE ACADEMY #3) MAXINE MANSFIELD
**I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)**
God, I love these books. Yet another book which I could not put down. I love this new and brilliant world and I honestly don't want this series of books to end.
The main characters in this book are lizabeth (lizard) and Adan. Lizabeth is a girl who has spent her entire life learning about the man she is to marry. She is a strong character with a troubled past, and after she's done her duty and married the man she is betrothed to she wants nothing more than to do something for her. Adan is a character who has been picked up from the second book, he is Lark's brother and the future king. Adan was expecting a wife who would do everything he asked without arguing, he knew lizabeth as a child and thinks she will be the wife he expects. The couple immediately become rather heated in their arguments making me think that they will never pull it together. However with Adan being complicated and utterly besotted by lizabeth and unable to give up on her and lizabeth offering herself up to him in ways he can't refuse they eventually pull themselves together.
The secondary characters as before are awesome giving us an insight into the couple's from past books as well a few new characters. And I really did love Leeky and Laycees love story as well as Ray being a little bit normal if only for a little while. I also liked Adan getting help of our past couples as well as the girls supporting lizabeth.
The pacing in this book has kept me very much on edge turning me into the one more chapter monster and keeping me guessing the outcome until the very very last page.
I thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed the story line as the way through, I loved how different it was in comparison to the first two books in the series. And how a very very new and interesting complication has been introduced to test the strength of the couple's relationship.
4 stars and on to book 4.
#022 8th June 2014- TAMED BY THE FIRE (THE ACADENT #4) MAXINE MANDFIELD
**I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)**
I've got no more of these books on my to read shelf and right now I can't think why not, so I have decided to screw my monthly book budget and splurge. Also I don't think anybody could understand how much i wanted to scream and shout that it was Briar and uthiel's daughter who got together with lizabeth and Adan's son, it made my heart fly.
So the main characters are kit and zander, zander is the character picked up from the previous book however both characters have strong connections to the story so far. Kit has known zander from being an early age and only now when she's 18and then 21 does she realise just how far her feelings for him go. She is a very strong and independent character who is extremely argumentative and stubborn. The threat is one that may risk her life however for one reason or another she can't seem to look past the fact that other people are being hurt and protect herself. That's where zander comes in, after falling out with kit when she was 18 he takes on the responsibility as her protected while she may be in danger. While in a confined space the couple have no choice but to be intimate in sharing a bed which leads to the couple to satisfy needs that have been present in both of them for a while now. We are witness to a few rather heated arguments and the make up sex that goes alongside as well as the thrills and spills of a disappearing girl and a reoccurring cat.
I absolutely loved the secondary characters old and new, we got a huge fight scene with the original questers seeking to save a friend and now their family as well as gnome children and children named after numbers, and a whole bumper selection of newbies.
The pacing was great adding more and more suspense leading up till the final moment keeping me waiting on the edge of my seat to find out the overall out come and whether or not our leading couple find enough in each other to drop other responsibilities and be together.
The story line was insanely good with more and more being added onto the simple premise of prophecies being laid out in the first few books I simply can't get enough. I love the characters and the way they are portrayed.
4 stars literally cannot wait for the next one and this author is quickly becoming one of my favourites one to look out for in future.
