Absolutely
brilliant, what a fantastic read. A very original story with tons and tons of
dramatic twists, turns and summersaults.
The story revolves around two main characters Devilyn and Caroline two teenagers whose lives have been joined by an ancient prophecy. Caroline is a teenager going to school when a new boy starts, Caroline is instantly attracted to the new boy however knows boys like him and they would never give her the time of day until they are forced together to do a history project. Caroline is a stubborn and independent girl, she is argumentative and unaware of her own attractiveness. Devilyn however is quite the opposite, cocky and full of himself the boy tries his very hardest to stay away from the girl he is destined to be with. He keeps Coraline at an arm’s length and push her away even, however all efforts are found ultimately useless as the two fall further and further in love with each other. Since Devilyn for the most part of the book knows more about the prophecy than Coraline Devilyn seems to be holding back, this causes for some interesting and uncomfortable love scenes in the book.
The secondary characters are very interesting, Teddy, Patrick, Odin and others help with the progression of the story very well and make it seem less like the prophecy is steering events and more like it's the characters.
The pacing is decent although I do feel that the last few chapters had too much happening and it could have been spread out better however it did add to the suspense and has made me want to read the next book even more. I also love the awesome cliff hanger ending making me desperate to find out what happens next.
The storyline is fantastically original offering a new and exciting way to view the world of faeries.
I really did enjoy this book 3.5 stars. When's the next one coming out?
