#098 Going Long, Cari Quinn

#098 Going Long, Cari Quinn

This was a really refreshing read that’s got me in the mood for some warmer weather and a bit of romance. It was a fun and easy read that has pulled my mood out of the winter blues and into the wishful thinking for spring/ summer. It’s a book full of all the things a girl dreams of, themed on a romanced based on the one that got away which is always entertaining.

The main characters are Wade and Charlene, two people who always had a crush on each other but never got round to doing anything about it. It’s years down the line when the story begins, Wade is returning home after his football coach has suffered a heart attack; he is now a successful singer. While Charlene has never moved however she has married and divorced Wade’s brother; the one Wade was always jealous of. The two felt an undeniable attraction to each other and end up quickly making up for lost time giving the readers a few steamy scenarios. I loved both of the main characters who had their own unique quirkiness and fitted together nicely.

The secondary characters include Coach and Colt since these are the only two characters who influence the relationship between the two main characters which is the subject of the story. Coach is a huge encouragement to the relationship between Wade and Charlene, he recognises the love between the two characters and tries to push them towards each other. Colt is Wade’s brother and Charlene’s ex husband, he always thought there was an untold affection between the two characters, but I think ultimately just wants to bridge the gap in his relationship with his brother Wade so supports him in everything.

The pacing was good leaving it up to the last minute to find out if the two characters get together, the epilogue was also well placed telling us the outcome of the story.

The storyline was perfect for a book of this size, it was a quick, fun read with great characters. I would love to read more in this series and more by this author.

4 stars a great read
