**I received this book in exchange for an honest review

A fantastic short
read that draws you in with great characters from the first page. This book is
perfectly proportioned to give the reads the right amount of time to be drawn
in and then leaves them wanting to read the rest of the series. The author
expertly writes characters that are easy to love and creates a situation for
them to be in with enough uncertainty that the reader is unsure of the ending
until the very end.
The main character is Kyle, a keyboard player for a band with his brother. Next to his brother Kyle is always overlooked due to his good guy attitude versus his brother who is the stereotypical bad boy girls can't help but go for. Kyle's last relation was that with Alexis who broke his heart when she dumped him and went off to uni. I loved Kyle as a character and was fascinated by how much character development the author was able to put in this short book. With a backstory like Kyle's you kind of can't help but fall for him, he's a good guy for one which makes him different to most other books I've read, and he feels he gets overlooked when next to his brother.
The secondary characters include Jared Kyle's brother and Alexis Kyle's ex-girlfriend. Jared is a typical bad boy who makes pretty much every girl swoon and making a mess but never really dealing with the consequences- in short he's pretty much the opposite of his brother. Alexis is the girl that dumped Kyle and left him heart broken, she has come back into Kyle's life and is looking for a second chance. Both of these secondary characters show aspects of Kyle's life which I think he wishes were different.
The pacing was brilliant drawing the reader into the book with great characters and keeping us hooked until the very end while still holding back a piece of information that I feel is essential to the story.
The storyline is similar to other books I've read with the difference of the main character being a good guy rather than a bad boy which I feel gives the story a lot more depth to it.
4 stars, a great short story.
