#006 15th May 2014: SHADOWBOXER (TAPPED OUT #1) CARI QUINN
I loved this book! I loved this author! I will definitely be reading more by her.
The story is based around the two main characters Mia and Tray two fighters who fall in love. Mia is the kind of strong female lead which I love to read about, she argues every step of the way but in the end always gets the guy. However what was most refreshing about this book is that after months of reading about the girl I finally get to read about the guy too. Tray whose point of view is featured in every other chapter is a lovable rogue with a womanizing stint who really doesn't want to fall in love. When he meet Mia though all that changes, the serious character developments and complications that come between our two love birds had me at the edge of my seat with anticipation turning me into the 'one more chapter monster'.
I also loved secondary characters like Mia's sister Carly and her love interest Giovanni and would also like to see a spin off with Kizzy and possibly English guy who's taking over the gym-just a suggestion which I would most definitely read.
The book was paced brilliantly allowing everything to happen in Mia's time which as the most damaged is perfectly acceptable. However also giving Tray time to gather himself so that he can appear to be the suave guy he wants Mia to think he is.
The story line was excellent with just the right about of dark and grizzly stuff so that it is not an overly depressing book just one with substance. I often find it difficult to get into a book which is simply boy meets girl they fall in love - complication- complication resolved- happily ever after. This book does not do that because let's be honest it's not that easy to get over a complication like this. I loved the fact that even in the last chapter Mia's problem is still there, it just isn't so much of a problem now because she has Tray.
I can't wait try to read more by this author.
