#083 22nd December 2014- You Are Mine, Janeal Falor
**I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review YA readers corner Goodreads.com.**
This book is a fantastic book about a girl who is desperately looking for a way to be different and win her freedom. There are parts of the book where if you're a girl you'll want to scream but that I feel gives a great insight into what the main character is feeling. I thought this book was a fantastic new fantasy read and I'm honestly hoping to hear more about these great characters.
The main character is Serena, she is a young girl who is waiting to find out how much magic is in her blood so that her father can marry her off and gain more power, property and money. When she finds out she has lots of magic in her blood she is sold off to a highly powerful yet horrible man. When he is killed in a battle Serena's ownership is passed on to the victor, a member of another part of the society. Serena has to learn how to deal with her new owner as well as fight to try to become her own person. I enjoyed reading Serena's story as I liked her strong and independent character.
The secondary characters include Kade, Cynthia and Waverly. Kade is the man who wins the tournament by killing Serena's intended; he is a relatively nice man who encourages her individuality. Cynthia is Serena's sister; she is the one most close to Serena and lives with her for a duration when Serena first is engaged. Waverly is a helper brought into the house by Kade to help Serena, they become great friends.
The pacing is great leaving us guessing what is going to happen until the very last minute and then doing something no-one even expected.
The storyline is fantastically original giving us a brand new fantasy setting to get stuck into as well as very good characters. There are lots of twists and turns as well as surprising conclusions and a real bad guy character that you can hate.
4 stars. A great book
