**I received this book for free
in exchange for an honest review**
I
thoroughly enjoyed this book; it was an intense relationship from two people on
different sides of the music industry mixed together with a bit of band rivalry
and some scrumptious sounding foods.
The
main characters Hadley and Deacon are brought together during a music tour,
Deacon being the musician and Hadley being a chef with the tour. Both have been
around the music industry from an early age, Deacon but being in a band from an
early age and Hadley touring across the country with various bands with her
parents. Hadley is determined at the start not to let another musician steal
her heart after a run in with one when she was a teen; however Deacon makes it
practically impossible to stay out of his way. Hadley is strong, stubborn and
argumentative with a more than shady past involving several run ins with the
police. Whereas Deacon is pretty much a straight arrow, a boy scout in many
ways but mostly because he is always prepared- except for shower sex. The
relationship between them is on a time frame and very explosive especially when
the band is going through a rough patch. It is interesting to watch both
characters who want to be successful at what they do and how it causes
conflict.
The
secondary characters such as Simon, Nick, Jazz and Gray add to the difficulties
of the relationship between Deacon and Hadley as there seems to be very little
time the two can truly spend alone. But Jazz actively encourages the
relationship and tries to help them get their much needed time together.
The
pacing is great as it gives us loads of build up before the relationship really
hits off between the two main characters. It also takes into consideration
other things that may be equally important to the storyline, and plays them out
to the full extent. I also like that there is still a fantastically planned out
finale to end the book off on a very high note and that quite easily could lead
into book 2 which I will defiantly be reading when it comes out.
3.5
stars a really really good read.
