#027

#027 16th June 2014- LOCKS, SARAH J. PEPPER

**I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)**

New favourite book. Couldn't put it down. A real page turner. What can I say other than this is going to be the version of Rapunzel I tell my kids- which just to clarify are none existent at the minute and will probably be more than a little way away. I have honestly loved every minute of reading this book with its interesting plot twists, turns, backflips and somersaults.

The main characters are Zel and Flynn are straight out of a biker bad boy paradise or at least that's how they are in my head. Zel being Rapunzel has been trapped in her tower for her whole life up until shortly before this book when she escapes. Flynn is of course the man working for the sorceress keeping her trapped, during this book Zel is very much sought out to become the leader of a rebellion against the sorceress keeping her trapped. Flynn on the other hand is Zel's watcher trying to make sure she doesn't escape due to a contract signed by the sorceress while at the same time trying to turn her into the person who could lead the rebellion. Flynn from the beginning says he is not to be trusted and that is something the reader should keep in mind as it may cause a few less heart wrenching moments where you really aren't sure if he's playing the part or not.

The secondary characters are very much part of the rebellion or the sorceress and they really do add to the story either moving the plot along or providing giggles. I loved the characters in the rebellion and thought the sorceress was very well written especially once you learn the back story of her.

The pacing was brilliant keeping information back until it was necessary for it to be learned allowing readers to sink their teeth into and fall in love with the characters before moving the story along to focus on something else. I also liked how the relationship between Zel and Flynn was paced, giving them time to become familiar with each other before forcing them into a relationship.

The story line was fantastically original, and it didn't stray too far from the original story just offered new insight, twists and turns as well as more character developments than what was offered in the original story.

5 stars. I loved, loved, loved this book and probably will enjoy it everytime I read it after this.
