#077 15/12/14- Crossfire, Andrea Domanski

**I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review, Goodreads.com**

This book was brilliantly original pulling you into the story and the lives of the characters from the very first page. It is a fantastic read full of fantastic characters and a great storyline that will keep you hooked and fulfil at least a days’ worth of reading.

The main character is Marissa, a normal girl who up until her 18th birthday has lived a normal life with her father after her mother left when she was a child. On the day of her 18th birthday she receives a present off her mother and ends up being thrown into a new world that Marissa has never encountered before. I liked Marissa as a character and I found the way she dealt with issues and problems refreshingly interesting as she overcame them and began to understand the new things happening in her life.

The secondary characters included Greco, Myrine and Steve; Greco is the guardian put in charge of training Marissa in her new powers and abilities. Myrine is Marissa’s absent mother, it actually turns out that she is the queen of a supernatural race and is the reason for change in Marissa’s life. Steve is Marissa’s ex-army father; he has looked after Marissa since an early age and is very invested in making sure she is ok with all she has learned about herself and her mother.

The pacing was great leading up from Marissa becoming aware of her powers and abilities to her meeting her mother before moving onto the bigger threat which has the potential to hurt a lot of people.

The storyline was brilliantly original and included a number of supernatural characters which added to this thrilling and exciting story.

3.5 stars, a really great read.
