My first book review

#001 23rd April 2014: TAKING THE REINS (THE ROSEWOODS #1) KATRINA ABBOTT

I got this book for an honest review.

I started this book one morning with the intention of reading a bit then doing some work for one of my many assignments due in- that did not work out well. Mainly because this book was such an easy read and I found myself reading chapter after chapter and then it was finished- I wish it had been longer.

The first few chapters are based heavily on character description mainly the main character and narrator of the story, Brooklyn- a new student arriving at a boarding school she will be attending- and introducing in detail each new character which Brooklyn meets as she starts her school year. The description of each new character is rich in information giving details about their personality traits that made them all into very different characters and made them instantly engaging to me. As the story progressed and relationships began to form I started to love or hate the different characters; my main loves being Brady and Jared, and my hates being Dave because I’m still annoyed with him.

The story is well paced introducing new characters and relationships exactly when they are needed- this isn't one of those annoying girl meets boy, boy is unable to sustain a relationship with girl, girl sits about waiting for him to change his mind books- there are plenty of other options and I hope Brooklyn explores these no matter how much I love Brady.

The story line is not one which has blaringly obvious twists and turns, it has subtle character developments which made me want to read more (which is why I wanted it to be longer).

This is defiantly to be added to my list of favourites and I can't wait to read more in this series of books.
