**I received this book in
exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)**
Another
new favourite book, I started reading this at 7 last night I read until I fell
asleep then picked it up again this morning in the end it took me less than 12
hours to read mainly because I couldn't put it down. It's very different with a
new and original paranormal species and a story unlike any I've read before-
and I for one love the new spin paranormal stories are adding- this book does
not disappoint.
The
main character is Maggie, and she is rather alone in this- well not completely
alone but alone enough for her to be the only main characters. I guess I could
have said Ally was also a main character but she's not really because it's
Maggie pretending to be Ally. So Mags is a soul collector who wants nothing
more than to be a guard, when someone gets promoter to guard before her she can
do nothing more but complain to her boss. This is the first thing in a chain of
events that catapult her into someone else's body and someone else's life where
she meets Cooper and Jackson, two maybe love interests that offer her
completely different things, Cooper offers her a potential future whereas
Jackson offers her a key to her past which fits in rather nicely with the body
she's in now. I really did like Mag's character as she is strong and
independent even though she's been put in a difficult situation by the people
she trusts. She learns about her differences in a way that would make anyone
else go crazy yet she still remains on task in a desperate attempt to save the
life she's borrowed.
There
are lots of secondary characters and they each add something special to the
story. There's Jamie the geeky girl whose there for a breath of fresh air in
amongst the glamour and bitchiness in Ally's life. Cooper the protective guard
who looks after both Ally and Mag's in his own way; I would have loved to see
Ally and him get together- maybe in book 2. Jackson who is the blast from Mag's
past with the answers to the questions she doesn't know need asking. Heather
and Marie even add their own spin into the story helping to steer it and keep
Mag's on the true path when she's pretending to be Ally.
The
pacing is really really good releasing little bits of teasers of information
but with holding the whole truth until the last minute. There is a big lead up
to the final few chapters but not so much that nothing else happens throughout
the rest of the book.
The
story line was brilliantly original and offered a brand new paranormal species
and world that goes along side it.
I
really did genuinely enjoy this book and the characters 5 stars can't wait to
read book 2.
